Bulk Bag Discharging Station: Safely and Cleanly Unpacking One-Ton Powder Bags into the Production Line

The one-ton flexible intermediate bulk container (FIBC)or bulk bag is the standard packaging format for dry powder logistics. Transferring a full ton of material cleanly and safely into a production line requires an engineered approach across dust containment, flow promotion and batch weighing.

Process Workflow and Containment

The bag is hoisted onto the Bulk Bag Discharging Station, where its spout is tightly clamped over the hopper inlet. Once untied, powder drops into the hopper and feeds into downstream conveying systems. Dust control mitigates three key emission points: settlement air displacement, spout untying bursts and dumping discharge. By combining multi-layer seals, continuous hopper negative pressure and integrated dust collectors. Glove box isolators are added for high-potency active pharmaceutical ingredientsor hazardous chemicals.

Overcoming Flow Interruption

Compacted, moistor cohesive powders often form "bridging" in the hopper, stalling material feed. Stations tackle blockages using integrated flow aids:

  • Pneumatic Vibrators: High-frequency vibration breaks down bridged structures.

  • Fluidization Pads: Low-pressure air aerates powder into a fluid-like state.

  • Mechanical Agitators: Low-speed arch-breakers mechanically disrupt packed material.

Weighing and Material Traceability

Mounted on load cells, the station tracks real-time weight loss during discharge for accurate dosing. Automatically uploading this data to a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) links material lot numbers to electronic batch records, ensuring full traceability for quality audits.
